Report: Israel police used spyware on Netanyahu’s son, aides

JERUSALEM (AP) — An Israeli newspaper says police allegedly used spyware on the phones of former Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s son and members of his inner circle. Monday’s revelation has prompted a new high-level investigation into the claims that police used sophisticated spyware to target protesters, politicians and other Israeli citizens, and judges canceled a hearing in Netanyahu’s trial for prosecutors to address claims a key witness’s phone was tapped. Calcalist says the spyware was also used against Netanyahu’s son, Avner, two communications advisers and the wife of another defendant in the case.
