3rd Young Park shooting defendant receives 90-year prison sentence

LAS CRUCES, N.M. (KVIA) -- The third defendant in connection to the deadly Young Park mass shooting has been sentenced. Josiah Ontiveros will serve 90 years in prison. He will be eligible for parole in 25 years.

Ontiveros is one of four defendants convicted of three counts of first-degree murder.

Now 17 years old, Ontiveros was 15 at the time of the March 2025 shooting.

On Sept. 11, Gustavo Dominguez also received a 90-year prison sentence. He was 17 at the time of the shooting.

Tomas Rivas was the first to be sentenced and received three consecutive life sentences for a total of 90 years.

Sentencing for the fourth defendant and Tomas' brother, Nathan Rivas, is set for Oct. 9.
