3-year-olds will have free pre-kindergarten in Socorro ISD starting this fall

SOCORRO, Texas -- Three-year-olds will have access to full pre-kindergarten free of cost starting in the fall of 2020 with the Socorro Independent School District after a recent district policy expansion.

Parents of children who turn three or four years old by September 1, 2020 will be able to enroll their kids in the expanded Pre Kinder program if they meet state requirements for the cost-free education program, depending on their economic, language, homeless, or active military status.

According to Socorro ISD parents hoping to sign their children up for Pre-K or kinder must register with the following documents:

• student birth certificate
• immunization record
• social security card
• a current utility bill (no telephone bills)
• identification for the parent or legal guardian registering the child

Registration for kinder opens on Saturday, April 4 at the following schools.
