CANUTILLO, Texas --- Canutillo Independent School District is one of many school districts around the Borderland which is providing free meals to students during this extended spring break caused by the coronavirus emergency.

Crews at the district start work at 6 a.m. to get breakfast ready.

They take prepared meals and drop them off along the district's bus stops.

They also have a handful of drive-through locations including Canutillo High, Garcia Elementary, Canutillo Elementary, Bill Childress and Davenport Elementary.

They provide food to any child who is under the age of 18. It doesn't matter if they actually are from the district or some other place in El Paso.

District officials want to remind parents that even on the city's "stay home rule" they are allowed to leave their home to pick up meals from their child's school.
