LCPS makes good on Trujillo’s promise to honor the 2020 graduating class

LAS CRUCES, New Mexico- The Las Cruces Public Schools announced they will let graduates from their 2020 class walk across the stage as their late Superintendent Karen Trujillo promised them.

Trujillo, who died earlier this year when she was struck by a motor vehicle while on a walk, made the promise during the Covid-19 pandemic when the graduates had their ceremonies cancelled due to social distance restrictions implemented by the state of New Mexico.

“We get to celebrate our students, not in the way that they deserve, but hopefully we’ll have that opportunity soon,” is what the late superintendent said back in May of 2020.

The ceremony will take place at the Field of Dreams on July 1.

In order to register to walk you must fill out a survey LCPS has put together by clicking here.
