EPISD offers some free supplies, changes uniform policy for upcoming school year

EL PASO, Texas -- Before you go back-to-school shopping, you'll need to check the list of school supplies that the El Paso Independent School District is offering for free to all of their students this upcoming school year.

The school district provided a list of supplies that you need to get for your student. Anything not on the list will be supplied by the district. Some of the items that parents are responsible for purchasing include a district-issued laptop, notebooks, and a backpack.

The school district said they are creating this initiative this year to help with the financial burden on families.

They are also changing the uniform policy for schools that require them. Now, students can wear jeans or khakis and school T-shirts or regular T-shirts that have the school colors. If you already bought a uniform for this year, you can still use that as well.

You can look at the complete list of school supplies you need to purchase here and get a look at the uniform policy announcement here.

The first day of school is Aug. 2.
