El Paso firefighters participate in first ever Borderland 100 Club 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb

Members of the El Paso Fire Department among several other Fire departments participated in the first ever Borderland 100 Club 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb Saturday morning at Southwest University Park.

The 9/11 Memorial Stair Climbs and Walks are not timed race events, but a way for firefighters and the community to honor and remember the FDNY firefighters who selflessly gave their lives so that others might live.

Each participant pays tribute to a FDNY firefighter by climbing or walking the equivalent of the 110 stories of the World Trade Center.

Firefighters, other law enforcement departments, family members and friends climbed those 110 stories plus 22 steps to honor the victims of 9/11 and the victims of the August 3rd shooting that happened here in El Paso.
