Dozens gather to launch rockets for official launch of 2nd Annual El Paso Space Festival

3…2…1 Blast off! Dozens of kids and their parents gathered together Saturday morning at the RC Airstrip in northeast El Paso to help launch a week-long series of events for the upcoming 2nd annual El Paso Space Festival.

Insights El Paso has partnered with Sunland Park Mall, NASA, Boy Scouts BSA Yucca Council, UTEP, YISD, EPISD, NMSU and over 20 space education organizations for second annual El Paso Space Festival.

The El Paso Space Festival is part of a nationwide celebration of educational programs designed to engage audiences in the awe-inspiring fields of Earth and space science. Families attending festival events will be able to explore Earth and space phenomena, learn about current NASA Research, launch rockets, stargaze, learn robotics, make moon craters, and much more!

The week-long series of Space Festival events runs Saturday, September 28 through Saturday, October 5, 2019, and concludes with the Space Adventure Extravaganza at Sunland Park Mall on Saturday, October 5, 2019.

The Space Extravaganza Main Event on October 5, 2019, in addition to hands-on Earth and space activities, will also feature booths from multiple space organizations like NASA, Virgin Galactic, NMSU, Challenger Learning Center, UTEP, and many more.

Families that complete their Space Passport by visiting all booths will have a chance to win prizes.

Online presale tickets are FREE with a donation of toiletries for the El Paso Elks Lodge #187 TTP Toiletry Drive (bring all donations to Saturday’s Extravaganza event).
