Anthony woman killed when she rolls car, is ejected and then gets run over along Transmountain Road

A 56-year-old Anthony woman was killed Thursday morning when she rolled over her car, was ejected and then run over by another vehicle in west El Paso.

Police identified the victim of the 3:45 a.m. crash at Transmountain Road and Paseo Del Norte as Maria Rebecca Rodriguez.

Traffic investigators said Rodriguez, who was not wearing a seatbelt, lost control of her car while speeding on the wet roadway and veered off it. That’s when her car overturned, and she was thrown into oncoming traffic and struck.

All eastbound lanes of Transmountain Road at Paseo Del Norte were closed throughout the morning as police investigated the deadly crash; the road reopened to traffic around noon. (Go to KVIA.com/Traffic anytime for a live look at road conditions)

Police said Rodriguez was the 51st traffic fatality of the year thus far in El Paso; that compares to 50 deaths last year at this same time.
