El Paso District 4 City Representative Sam Morgan made his first public appearance since being arrested Oct. 4 and charged with assaulting his wife.

Since that arrest, Morgan’s attorney said the accusations against him would “in no way interfere with his duties and responsibilities to his constituents in District 4.”

Morgan missed a community meeting last week, but he was present for Monday’s City Council meeting.

An item placed on the City Council agenda for Tuesday is titled “Discussion of El Paso City Charter provisions relating to an elected city official’s removal from office.”

Mayor Dee Margo placed the item on the agenda and ABC-7 asked him if it had anything to do with Morgan. The mayor said he would not elaborate on the item until its discussion.

=”I’m fine with the discussion that is placed on the agenda item I have no issues with that,” Morgan told ABC-7 before adding, “any questions pertaining to my situation, please refer to my attorney.”

City representatives Claudia Ordaz Perez, Henry Rivera, Cassandra Hernandez, and Alesxandra Annello all declined to comment. However, a majority of the city representatives said they would speak about the issue once council has its Tuesday discussion on it.
