EL PASO, Texas – The El Paso United Family Resiliency Center will host two Victims' Forums as part of the community’s path to recovery from the Walmart mass shooting tragedy on Aug. 3.

The forums will be an opportunity for community members to share their needs regarding recovery, learn how to recognize signs of trauma or depression, and learn about community resources available. Resiliency Center staff will be present to listen to community member’s needs.

"It's open to everybody, whether they were at the Walmart or not," said Christina Lamour, the vice president of community impact for United Way of El Paso County. "Whether they were directly affected, we were all affected as a community so everybody's invited."

The first forum will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 7p.m. on Wed., Dec. 4 at the El Paso Center for Children at 2200 N. Stevens St. The second will be on Thurs., Dec. 5 at Centro San Vicente at 8061 Alameda Ave. from 5:30 - 7 p.m.

The Resiliency Center, opening soon, will be a place of healing and support dedicated to serving as a resource to those directly and indirectly impacted by the tragedy on Aug. 3.

"The resources are not going to stop," Lamour said. "We're in this for the long haul and it's going to take awhile to heal but we're going to do it together."
