‘Disney on Ice’ returns to El Paso through May 16

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- Disney On Ice has returned to El Paso with its production of Mickey's Search Party. The event is one of the first large entertainment events in the Borderland since the pandemic began.

The show incorporates various Disney characters and stories.

The show premiered at the El Paso County Coliseum on Wednesday and will continue through May 16.

"For so long during the pandemic with everything shut down, we weren't even able to skate," said Nick Bausenwein, who portrays Buzz Lightyear in the show. "It kind of felt like we lost part of ourselves, but now we're back. We're so excited to be playing for live crowds."

"It is so special seeing the kids' smiling faces, hearing everyone singing along," said Rachel Dobson, who portrays Ariel.

Pod Seating has been created to help audience members follow social distancing guidelines. Seating capacity will also be limited. Face coverings are required for all guests ages two and older.

"It's definitely been a different experience than most normal tours," Bausenwein said.
