El Paso’s Lower Valley gets new library and community center

EL PASO, Texas - The city of El Paso hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony for the brand new Valle Bajo Community Center and Library this weekend.

The new facility was funded through the 2021 Qualify of Life Bond program. The city allocated $33 million to create three new community centers, including this one.

The library pays tribute to the late Enrique Moreno, an attorney and civil rights advocate.

"My parents, my two brothers and I immigrated from Chihuahua, Chihuahua Mexico when my brother Enrique was about three months old," his sister said. "While the U.S. was very exciting, it was very scary for both of my parents."
