Camp Cohen water park grand opening for holiday weekend

EL PASO, Texas-- Nestled in Northeast El Paso, in the lot where Cohen Stadium once stood, now lies a water park for kids to enjoy. The water park features a lap pool, a rock climbing wall, three water slides, a lazy river and two splash pads, as well as covered cabanas. The park will officially open it's doors to the public this Saturday at 9 a.m. for Memorial Day weekend.

"It's a great day for Northeast El Paso but an even better day for all of El Paso, Northeast is leading the way but I can tell you this park is just fantastic it really is bring your families out here," Joe Molinar, City representative for District 4, said.

The park offers plenty of amenities for the whole family, including a cafe on site for snacks. Prices for the park vary based on a child's height. Those over four feet will be charged $12, children under four feet will be charged $10. Seniors, military members and veterans with I.D. will only be charged $10.

ABC-7 spoke with those at the park, many of them tell us they feel like they are getting life back to normal since the outbreak of COVID-19.

"Priceless now thinking about how we were last year locked at home and we are able to do this now, can't take this for granted now enjoy every second of it," A parent at the park said.
