EL PASO, Texas -- The El Paso Police Department said it has increased its presence of officers in the S. Oregon area following several incidents resulting in complaints from migrants and residents in the area about drug activity and people trying to take advantage of migrants.

According to police, one incident occurred Friday just before 10 a.m., when officers approached a 24-year-old man after a complaint from the Los Limousines at 720 S. Oregon alleging that the man was charging people to park in their parking lot. After attempting to talk to the man the man tried to run, but was chased down and tackled by officers at Father Rahm and S. Oregon. The man was found to be in possession of drugs and was turned over to U.S. Border Patrol.

Two additional incidents occurred on Thursday.

The first occurred around 9 a.m. when several migrants complained to officers that 29-year-old Hendrid Rivero Aparcedo was selling drugs. Aparcedo was found to be in possession of drugs. He was arrested, charged with the Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and booked into the El Paso County Jail.

The second incident happened just before 1 p.m. Thursday. The Los Limousines bus business said that a man, later identified as 29-year-old Luis Raul Vera, was trespassing. During police's investigation, Vera was found to be in possession of marijuana. Police arrested Vera and he was charged with Possession of Marijuana Under 2 Ounces. Vera was booked into the El Paso County Jail.
