Watch: “No more danger to the public” says EPPD on Cielo Vista Mall shooting that left 1 dead, 3 injured

UPDATE 9:00 p.m: El Paso Chief Peter Pascillas: At 5:05 p.m. calls came in on shots fired at Cielo Vista Mall. Off duty officers were on scene at 5:08 p.m. Took 1 individual into custody.

A mutli-agency response followed and was quickly brought under control. Two in custody "No more danger to the public."

Local FBI office is assisting with a website to help gather information people might have to help with the investigation.

Bill Hicks: El Paso DA says - There has been fantastic coordination from all of our organizations. This shows El Paso police has been able to secure the scene, a fantastic presence and assure the community.

Mayor Oscar Leeser: I think it's very important that the lead agency in the investigation is the El Paso Police Department. But we're not doing it by ourselves. We will release in a timely manner information that we get. We don't want to compromise the information that we have.

Jeff Downey, Special Agent in charge of the FBI: A great deal of credit needs to go out to the off-duty officer that was on the scene quickly. We have established a tip line for all video and photo information or witnesses may have. It's important that we get that information ASAP. The site is www.fbi.gov/cielovistamallshooting

Police: This is an active investigation. Vehicles at the mall will remain there for some time, up to 18 hours.

Pacillas: We've been in communication with Emergence Health Network. They will be putting out some information that they might need. Reminds the public there is no threat to the public.

El Paso Mayor: Our community is a safe community due to the partnerships with the law enforcement community. We didn't know what to expect. But we were prepared to do our job.

UPDATE 8:15 p.m.: El Paso Police and the Office of Emergency Management will consolidate their next new briefing at 9 p.m. There was a previously scheduled news conference at 8 p.m. which has no been moved to 9 p.m.

UPDATE 7:56 p.m.: UPDATE from Del Sol Medical Center: Del Sol Medical Center is treating one of the shooting victims. The patient is in fair condition. For additional information, please contact the El Paso Police Department.

UMC RECEIVES PATIENTS FROM CIELO VISTA MALL SHOOTING

EL PASO, Texas –  At approximately 5:40 p.m. today, University Medical Center of El Paso’s Level 1 trauma center received two victims of a shooting that took place today at Cielo Vista Mall.

Both patients are in critical condition and being treated for their injuries. Both patients are males.

The two patients are being cared for by UMC trauma medical staff as well as physicians from Texas Tech Physicians of El Paso. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.

UMC RECEIVES PATIENTS FROM CIELO VISTA MALL SHOOTING

EL PASO, Texas –  At approximately 5:40 p.m. today, University Medical Center of El Paso’s Level 1 trauma center received two victims of a shooting that took place today at Cielo Vista Mall.

Both patients are in critical condition and being treated for their injuries. Both patients are males.

The two patients are being cared for by UMC trauma medical staff as well as physicians from Texas Tech Physicians of El Paso. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.

UPDATE 7:19 p.m.: People are being allowed to leave the mall. FBI are working in the investigation.

UPDATE 7:15 p.m.: According to UMC, both shooting victims they received are male.

UPDATE 7 p.m.: A witness says he saw the barrel of the gun and heard the gun shots near the Spencer's store. Darren says he and his friend were about to leave when they heard three shots. He left, got into a vehicle, and saw people running out with their kids. He says she stopped to help some families leave. Police stopped him totalk to him but later cleared him. Darren says they were going through an emergency exit. People were pushing and shoving. He says she was surrounded by about six people.

UPDATE 6:57 p.m.: El Paso police will hold a second news update at 8 p.m.

UPDATE p.m.: Sgt. Robert Gomez: 5:10 multiple calls from Cielo Vista Mall. Multiple units responded.

We have four people shot during the incident 1 person is dead. The other three have been transported.

1 Person is in custody, according to El Paso Police.

Police are looking for a possible shooter this is outstanding.

The suspect was taken into custody inside the mall. How that unfolded, police do not yet know. This is all according to preliminary information. Police say at least 1 weapon was recovered.

"We're not eliminating any possibilities," says Sgt. Gomez.

UPDATE 6:23 p.m.: A family reception center has been set up at Burges High school's main gym. 7800 Edgemere. Publis is requested to report if they have not made contact with a loved one.

UPDATE 6:20 p.m.: Both patients at UMC are in critical condition.

UPDATE 6:18 p.m.: Two victims from the shooting have been sent to University Medical Center. A police briefing will happen in 5 min.

UPDATE: Dispatch received a call at 5:04 p.m. about a multi-casualty incident at the Cielo Vista Mall. Four ambulances were dispatched.

A shopper told ABC-7 he heard at least three gunshots before panic set in and people started running out.

UPDATE.: El Paso Police say multiple agencies are responding.

UPDATE: ABC-7 has several crews at the scene. There is very limited information. We will report what is confirmed.

UPDATE 5:33 p.m.: At least three victims are on the scene - according to ABC-7 source.

UPDATE 5:31 p.m.: El Paso Police say the subject is still outstanding.

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- People are being asked to stay away from an active scene. El Paso Police report there's been a shooting at the Cielo Vista Mall food court.
