Taxpayer-funded sculpture destroyed along Airway in East El Paso

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- ABC-7 captured images of a sculpture lying in the median of Airway Boulevard Tuesday.

The City of El Paso tells us that the cause of the damage is still under investigation, although they believe a car could have crashed into the sculpture either Thursday or Friday.

City officials say they are communicating with police. Crews will remove the damaged parts and then evaluate potential costs for repairs.

The sculpture is part of a series of identical artworks that line the median of Airway. They were installed by the city.
