McDonalds celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month with annual awards luncheon

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- McDonalds is marking Hispanic Heritage Month with its 22nd Annual Triunfadores Awards Luncheon.
"This prestigious event recognizes the outstanding achievements of individuals from diverse fields who have left an indelible mark through their remarkable professional accomplishments and unwavering commitment to community service," the organization stated in a recent news release announcing its honorees.
This year's awards go to muralist Albert Tino Ortega, State Farm agent Crystal Martinez, UTEP Department of Social Work Chair Dr. Eva Moya, Ysleta Independent School District Superintendent Dr. Xavier De La Torre, El Paso County Judge Ricardo Samaniego, Associate Professor of civil engineering at UTEP Dr. Ivonne Santiago, and journalist Alfredo Corchado.
The luncheon happened Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at the Star Light Event Center in East El Paso.
"These honorees not only exemplify dedication to helping others but also serve as inspirational role models, igniting the aspirations of young individuals to pursue higher education and strive for greatness."
