Spring break and driving safety
UPDATE: The El Paso County District Attorney's Office, as part of their "Choose Your Ride" campaign, is giving out $20 Uber vouchers every Friday. To request a voucher, scan the QR code on the office's social media pages.
The program is funded by the Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT). The vouchers are available as part of the of the ongoing efforts to reduce impaired driving during high-risk periods. Uber, as the contracted rideshare vendor, helps facilitate the program but does not financially contribute to it.
EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) will be increasing patrols for spring break and St. Patrick's Day traffic enforcement.
During this time officers will focus on seat belt violations, speeding, impaired driving and other unsafe driving behaviors.
The department urges drivers to follow safety tips, such as not drinking and driving and avoiding distractions while on the road.
