16-year-old arrested in connection to shots fired at Jim Crouch Park

UPDATE (April 15, 2026) -- EPPD said a fight happened at the park and a 16-year-old boy discharged a gun. No injuries were reported.

EPPD's gang unit learned during the fight, a person brandished and fired a gun into the air several times, EPPD said Wednesday.

Police arrested the boy and referred him to the Juvenile Probation Department.

The investigation continues.


UPDATE (2:35 p.m.) -- EPISD said the lockdown has been lifted.


EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- El Paso police are investigating a call for shots fired at Jim Crouch Park, formerly Ponder Park, the police department said Monday.

Police announced the investigation just before 1:30 p.m. No injuries or threat are reported in the area, EPPD said.

The El Paso Independent School District said Burges High School is on lockdown out of caution.

Police are investigating the situation.
