Lincoln Park Day returns to celebrate Chicano culture

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- Lincoln Park Day kicked off its 22nd year at the newly renamed "Lincoln Park - El Paso's Chicano Park" Saturday.

The community gathered at the park under the freeway to express their cultural pride. From custom lowriders, zoot suits to music, the park buzzed with Chicano culture.

Organizers said the annual gathering aims to recognize the cultural significance of Lincoln Park - El Paso's Chicano Park and the city's heritage.

The spirit of the occasion even spread to some pets.

"The art, the murals here at the park speak for themselves," said Hector Gonzalez from the Lincoln Park Conservation Committee President. "And then every, every car, every man fixes his car and has a vision. And so each car is a rolling piece of artwork."
