Borderland workshop aims to help those who care for the elderly

EL PASO, Texas -- If you take care of an elderly parent, the BorderRAC (Regional Advisory Council) is hosting a workshop on Friday, November 1 that will provide valuable information.

There are many questions about appropriate screening, how to reduce the number of medications they are taking and identifying behavior cues that might suggest mental decline. The workshop schedule is as follows:

8:00-9:00 a.m. Geriatric Screening and Preventive Care- Presented by Dr. Pablo Casares

9:00-10:00 a.m. Polypharmacy De-Prescribing- Presented by Jennifer Hartman, PharmD

10:00-10:10 a.m. Break

10:00-11:10 a.m. Behavioral Symptoms Related to Cognitive Impairment- Presented by Dr. Marcelo Rodriguez, MD

11:10 a.m.-12:10 pm Malnutrition in the Elderly- Presented by Erin Shepherd, MS, RDN, LD, CNSC
