EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) - Cody Decker, former outfielder for the El Paso Chihuahuas, is back in town to host a showing of a documentary which features him. The documentary is one part of a fund raiser for the Border Youth Athletic Association, this Sunday beginning at noon at the Alamo Drafthouse location in west El Paso.

The documentary "Heading Home: The Tale of Team Israel" focuses on the Israeli national team as it competes for the first time in the 2017 World Baseball Classic. After years of crushing defeats, Israel finally ranks among the world’s best in 2017. Its roster includes many Jewish-American major leaguers - including Cody Decker - most with a tenuous relationship to Judaism, barely any ever having set foot in Israel. Their odyssey takes them from the Holy Land where they are hailed as modern-day Maccabees to the tournament in South Korea where they must debunk their reputations as has-beens and wannabes. The connection to Israel that the players forge pushes them to unexpected heights as they represent the country on the world stage.

Along with the documentary, Decker will hold a Q&A session for those in attendance plus a silent auction with many autographed items from Major League Baseball stars. All proceeds will go to the Border Youth Athletic Association, whose mission is to create educational and developmental opportunities for El Paso youth through sports. Tickets are $25 and available at the door.
