Socorro ISD creates fund to help feed food insecure El Pasoans

EL PASO, Texas -- A new fund has been created by Socorro Independent School District through the Paso del Norte Community Foundation.

The idea for the SISD Cares Fund came from Paso del Norte Elementary School Nurse Araceli Jimenez with support from Marivel Macias, SISD Assistant Superintendent for Administrative Services. The fund was created to assist the El Pasoans Fighting Hunger Food Bank as they continue their efforts to feed families impacted by COVID-19.

Monetary donations to the SISD Cares Fund will help provide meals to families who are financially insecure. All donations will also support the challenge grant established by the Hunt Family Foundation, Paul L. Foster Family Foundation and MountainStar Sports Group Foundation who have agreed to match all donations up to $1 million made to El Pasoans Fighting Hunger Food Bank.
