TTUHSC El Paso program provides no-cost HPV vaccines to some Borderland residents

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- January is Cervical Cancer Awareness Month. High-risk subtypes of human papillomavirus (HPV) can cause certain types of cancers, including cervical cancer.

Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso is offering no-cost vaccines to individuals between the ages of 9 and 26 years old who are uninsured or underinsured. Participants must have a Texas address.

The goal of the "Tiempo de Vacunarte / Time to Vaccinate" program is to reduce the burden of HPV-associated cancers in border and rural counties.
