2 dead after cargo plane from Texas crashes, burns near airport in Ohio

Authorities say the two people killed in a fiery cargo plane crash near an Ohio airport were from Texas.

The State Highway Patrol in Ohio says the two men were the only ones onboard the plane carrying auto parts when it crashed early Wednesday just short of the runway at Toledo Express Airport

The victims were identified as 72-year-old Douglas Taylor and 69-year-old Donald Peterson Sr., both of Laredo, Texas.

The plane crashed into a truck repair lot just and narrowly missed a highway.

The fiery wreck burned about a half-dozen unoccupied semitrailers, but no one on the ground was injured.

It’s not known yet whether any distress call was made from the plane that left Laredo on Tuesday and made a brief stop outside Memphis, Tennessee.
