Man stabbed trying to break up central El Paso bar fight

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- El Paso police said a man was taken to the hospital after being stabbed at a bar late Wednesday night.

It happened after 11 p.m. at Dewey's Corner Pub on the 800 block of Piedras St.

Police said a group of customers became aggressive toward a bartender. That's when police said 19-year-old William Shukitt tried to mediate the situation, and at some point was stabbed.

Shukitt was taken to the hospital and is listed in stable condition.

The department's Crimes Against Persons Unit is investigating. Police have not said if they've made any arrests.
