One person rescued after central El Paso apartment catches fire

EL PASO, Texas -- The El Paso Fire Department said one person was safely evacuated from a central El Paso apartment after it caught fire on Friday morning.

It happened around 5 a.m. at the 3800 block of Lincoln Ave.

20 firefighters and 10 units responded to the fire. Crews were able to knock down the fire within 30 minutes. Officials confirm a total a six apartment units were damaged.

A spokesperson for El Paso Fire said one woman in her 50's was taken to a local hospital due to minor smoke inhalation. Another patient was checked but was not taken to a hospital. A dog was also safely rescued from the blaze.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
