Crash in West El Paso damages homeowner’s backyard

EL PASO, Texas -- The Texas Department of Public Safety officials have confirmed a pursuit that ended in a crash damaging a the backyard of a West El Paso resident on Wednesday night.

According to officials, a state trooper attempted to conduct a traffic stop on an SUV with fictitious New Mexico temporary tag.

The vehicle then sped up leading the trooper on a pursuit. The driver lost control of the vehicle crashing into the backyard of an El Paso homeowner.

The driver of the SUV was taken to University Medical Center with serious injuries. The passenger of the vehicle was taken to Las Palmas Medical Center with minor injuries. Officials confirm the driver is in stable condition.

Charges are currently pending. DPS officials say no migrants were involved.
