Speed, alcohol caused deadly Far East El Paso crash, investigators say

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- 37-year-old Joseph Isaac Ayala is dead after investigators say he rear-ended a car, then was hit head-on by a second car.

The crash happened July 1, 2023 just before 4:30 a.m. on Loop 375 near the Pellicano exit in Far East El Paso.

Special Traffic Investigators say Ayala hit a 32-year-old woman's car, spun out of control and landed the wrong way on the road, then was hit by a second car.

All three drivers were taken to the hospital. Ayala died. ABC-7 is working to learn the condition of the other two drivers. We are also working to find out if officials are planning to file any charges connected to the crash.

Investigators say speed and alcohol were the main contributing factors in the crash.
