Fans share their feelings ahead of Karol G’s Sun Bowl Performance
EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) - Karol G begins her weekend of performances at the Sun Bowl Saturday as part of her Viajando Por El Mundo Tropitour and fans told ABC-7 why she is one of their favorite artists.
The fans came from across the country beginning with Texas's neighboring state New Mexico as fans from Deming, Roswell, and the town of Arrey told ABC-7 they made the trip to come see the Colombian singer.
Angelica Castañeda, a fan from Roswell, said she drove her daughters 3 hours so they could see Karol G since they are all fans and for Angelica it helps relieve her stress.
"For me, when I hear it, it just kind releases my stress and I just play her music and I feel better," Castañeda said.
Another fan from New Mexico, Jaileen Loera from Arrey, said it helps her feel 'heard' through the artist's music.
"I feel heard, she does a big confidence boost in latinas, we are overseen I want to say when it comes to showing our feelings," Loera said. "I feel like she made it very big to like, speak about your feelings and it's okay to feel a lot and not be over exaggerating about it you know."
Lala Castle, a fan who made the trip to El Paso from Chicago, mentioned something similar when mentioning the emotional response the music brings out of her and specifically mentioning when the music brings up love and men.
"She talks about love, she talks about how men actually are, some," Castle said. "She puts you in your feelings, she puts you in your thoughts as well and she also talks good about them to. So it's a little bit of everything."
Castle said she has seen the musician perform in Chicago, saying the 'vibe' of the show Karol G puts on is something like a 'new kind of excitement' that will not disappoint.
"It's freaking amazing," Castle said. "The vibe is like, boom, very exciting. It's like a little taste of excitement that you'll never experience."
Karol G is the latest major artist to come to El Paso after Coldplay in June of 2025 and BTS in May of this year with Chris Brown and Usher scheduled to perform in the Sun Bowl next in October.
After coming to see the city herself, Castle gave her opinion as to why more artist are choosing to add El Paso to their tour.
"I mean, look at the people. They're so friendly, they're so welcoming. Coming from Chicago, a big city coming to El Paso, like, they're so united," Castle said.
Karol G's performance on Saturday will begin at 7 p.m. with doors opening at 5 p.m. and Sunday's performance also begins at 7 p.m.
