‘R&B Tour’ brings Sun Bowl’s third major concert of 2026

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) - Chris Brown and Usher are bringing their 'R&B Tour' to the Sun Bowl Saturday as the third major performing act of 2026 after BTS and Karol G earlier in the year.

The fans showed up hours before the gates opened, wearing their Chris Brown and Usher branded clothes and ready to buy one if they didn't have any in a line similar to those of the Karol G fandom in August.

Some fans who spoke to ABC-7 said while they usually listen to the artist's work from the 2000's they like the melodies and the 'vibes' as one put it the music has.

This performance is part of a year of big acts coming to the borderland which has given fans like El Paso native Evelyn Trotman a 'surreal' feeling as she said the major artists coming to her hometown have been exciting.

"It's been such a surreal moment because I have friends who are really into BTS and they were so ecstatic," Trotman said. "I remember them coming both days because it was just so surreal for them to be here in their hometown in the comfort of our city."

Chris Brown coming, to her, feels 'crazy' as she puts it saying these major acts coming are a big deal that lets El Paso showcase what it has to offer and gave credit to Coldplay's 2025 performance for showing what kind of concert going crowd El Paso has.

"Honestly think it's crazy, He's a really big artist so for him to be in a small city like El Paso is really, really inspiring," Trotman said. "It's really exciting because, you know, we're just known as a border city so it's exciting to have all these artists come out and showcase El Paso, talk really good about El Paso too, it's really nice."

"El Paso, you wouldn't expect them to come here out of all places, you think probably like Phoenix, Houston area," Trotman said. "But for El Paso to be a spot for them to actually be here is crazy."

Trotman said she'll try to come see any major artist who decides to come as a 'thank you'.

Fans did tell ABC-7 about their 'wish list' of acts they want to come after Chris Brown and Usher which included Justin Bieber, Drake, and Forrest Frank.

The performance is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. before the tour heads to San Antonio for a Monday, October 5, performance in the Alamodome.
