Sunday Funday: How weekly messages inspire an El Paso Family

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- For some El Pasoans driving along Mesa past the Westside Church of Christ, the sign offers a weekly reminder that a few words can make a meaningful difference.

Three years ago, Robert Siqueiros asked if he could write the weekly quotes on the sign outside the church. A quick look through Google Maps shows the messages he has shared over the years.

“Dear pastor and members of Westside Church of Christ. I'm writing with a grateful heart to thank you for the messages you post on your bulletin board each week," said Robert Siqueiros.

Every morning, Robert and his daughter, Piper, drive past the sign on their way to school.

“Piper has dyslexia and reading can be tough for her, but she insists on reading your sign out loud every day," said Robert.

Robert says each quote comes to him through prayer.

“It's become a beautiful part of our routine, and she reads the message. After she reads it, we talk about it and what it means, and it's such a positive tone for her day. What may seem like a simple sign has become a real blessing in our lives," said Robert.

Robert says he wants each message to convey something true and beneficial, just as his messages have helped Piper and her family.

“Thank you again for the light you shine in our community and neighborhood. We see it and we're so grateful," said Robert.

He says seeing the impact the messages have made on the community is like a prayer answered.

“I wanted to, to make a difference in their lives, in their day, at least, you know, where they got a message there that made them think and, and maybe cleared up a few things for them," said Robert.

After receiving the letter about Piper, Robert dedicated a message to her, wishing her a great day.

“You get some blessings and some, sometimes you pray and you don't get an answer on your prayer, at least not then. Sometimes, trials will happen and I, I personally believe that, that's part of God's plan. He wants us to grow," said Robert.

For Robert and Piper, the church sign has become more than a roadside message. It is part of their morning routine—a moment to read, reflect and begin the day on a positive note. For others in the neighborhood, the weekly quotes offer a brief pause and a chance to think about something meaningful.
