The El Paso Rhinos are in a contest to host an preseason NHL game.

EL PASO, Texas -- The El Paso Rhinos are is looking to bring an NHL game to the Borderland.

The hockey team is taking part in the Kraft Hockeyville USA contest, where the winner gets to host a preseason NHL game, and $150,000 to upgrade their rink.

The El Paso County Events Center is home to the Rhinos.

The contest aims to recognize the most spirited hockey community in the country.

Fans can help the El Paso County Events Center rack up points toward becoming a finalist by visiting elpasorhinos.com and clicking on the contest banner.

The first portion of the contest ends Feb. 29. After that contest officials will review applications and pick four finalists that will be announced March 22.
