New Mexico St. stays hot, tops Seattle 75-67 on road
SEATTLE, Washington - New Mexico State rebounded from a slow start, as well as a late night at their team hotel, to recover and beat WAC foe Seattle 75-67 on the road tonight.
Ivan Aurrecoechea had 19 points and 11 rebounds to keep the Aggies unbeaten in conference play in the middle of a tough road stretch.
New Mexico State fell into an early 18-7 deficit, but a 9-0 run quickly closed the gap. And when Jabari Rice's three-pointer went down just before the break, the score was tied at halftime.
Aurrecoechea's layup and free throw with 4:30 to play put the Aggies on top for good, and New Mexico State was able to close out the RedHawks for their 8th straight win.
The win comes on the heels of a bizarre night at the team hotel.
On Friday, 10 members of the team had been stranded inside a hotel elevator. Per NMSU media relations, local fire department came and freed the players safely.
New Mexico State concludes their three-game road trip on 1/25 at UT-Rio Grande Valley at 6pmMT.
