UIL to allow limited workouts in June

AUSTIN, Texas -- It's the first step in getting sports back on high school campuses.

On Tuesday, the University Interscholastic League (UIL) sent an email to school district athletic directors and coaches informing them that summer strength and conditioning workouts will be allowed to begin on June 8th.

The news comes a day after Texas Gov. Greg Abbott announced that professional sports and summer camps will be allowed to return in the state on May 31st.

The UIL says it is still working out the details and once a plan is finalized schools will be notified.

The plan will have to ensure that students are allowed to return back to campus safely.
