Community Champions: San Elizario High School soccer teams continue to soar in state playoffs

EL PASO, Texas - The San Elizario Eagles are on the brink of making history.

They have an opportunity to win not only one state title in soccer, but possibly two state championships in the sport.

Both the girls and boys teams find themselves in the Sweet 16 of the Class 4A tournament.

The girls will face Stephenville Friday in a Class 4A regional semifinal match, while the boys will take on Western Hills Friday in their regional semifinal game.

The winners of those matches will advance to the Elite 8 of the tournament.

For all their accomplishments this season, the San Elizario boys and girls soccer teams are this week's Community Champions.

Community Champions is sponsored by Albertsons and the El Paso Community Foundation.
