DALLAS, Texas - After yet another impressive performance this past Thursday, Aggie running back James Jones has been named the Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week for Week 5 based on a vote of media members from throughout the league.

In the Aggies’ first midweek game of the year, Jones exploded for 155 rushing yards and one touchdown on 20 carries to help lead the Aggies to a commanding 34-13 home victory over Western Kentucky.

With this performance, Jones became the first Aggie rusher to record back-to-back 100-yard games since Jason Huntley did so in 2019.

Jones has been nothing short of dominant in his first season with the Aggies as he paces the squad with 510 rushing yards on 77 carries through five weeks.

Currently, he is averaging 102.0 rushing yards per game to lead all Conference USA players and rank 15th in the nation.

Additionally, his 510 total rushing yards ranks sixth in the country, while his 6.6 yards per carry ranks second among CUSA rushers and stands at 18th among all FBS players.

The Baltimore native is also one of just 16 rushers in the nation averaging more than 100 yards per game.

In his last four game, Jones has now totaled 479 rushing yards on 66 carries and with his third 100-yard game of the season, Jones becomes the first Aggie back to record three 100-yard games in a four-game stretch since Jason Huntley in 2019.

Jones has now rushed for 100-plus yards a total of 13 times in his collegiate career, including going over the century mark in six of his last nine games dating back to his time at Delaware State in 2025.
