Eastwood boys cross country team captures 6A state championship

ROUND ROCK, Texas - The Eastwood boys cross country team once again made history Friday morning in Round Rock, Texas.

For the first time the Troopers won the 6A state championship.

The program won two state titles at the 5A level (2018 & 2019), but this was the first time Eastwood won the state title at the 6A classification.

The UIL added a 6th classification back in 2014.

Eastwood knocked off Southlake Carroll, a team that came into the meet having won 7 straight state championships.

Eastwood defeated Southlake Carroll with a total of 56 points, 12 points ahead of the defending state champs.

Eastwood runner Noah Garcia led the way for the Troopers with a third-place finish.

Garcia posted a time of 14:40.1 over the 3.1 mile course.
