One-on-one with Dana Dimel; Miners look to continue winning ways at Southern Miss

EL PASO, Texas - It's been a long time since UTEP was 4-1 to start the season, but there's still more work to do.

UTEP will have to pick up some victories on the road, and that test begins this weekend when the Miners travel to Southern Miss.

It will be the first Conference USA road game for the Miners this season.

As the official home of the UTEP Miners, ABC-7 had our weekly conversation with UTEP head football coach Dana Dimel.

Coach Dimel previewed the matchup against the Golden Eagles and the team's mindset following the early success to their season.

UTEP will face a Golden Eagles team that is 1-4 to start their season.

Southern Miss is coming off a conference loss against Rice, while the Miners are coming off their first conference win against Old Dominion.

The Golden Eagles are favored to win the game, but the Miners are out to prove the naysayers wrong once again.

Kickoff for Saturday's game is at 5:00 p.m. Mountain Time from Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
