EL PASO, Texas - UTEP Vice President and Director of Athletics Jim Senter announced GECU as UTEP’s inaugural jersey-patch partner in a press conference on Monday afternoon.

Van Wagner brokered the deal on behalf of UTEP Athletics.

The GECU logo will be displayed on all competition uniforms for the men’s and women’s basketball and football programs beginning this fall, the Miners’ inaugural year in the Mountain West.

“It’s only fitting that GECU would be our first jersey patch partner,” Senter said. “GECU has made a tremendous impact in the El Paso community, and has certainly been a game-changer for UTEP Athletics as well. We’re thrilled to expand their partnership, and our student-athletes will wear their logo with pride when they embark on their 2026-27 seasons.”

“The GECU logo on these uniforms represents a partnership built on shared values like teamwork, leadership, integrity, and excellence," GECU President and CEO Alex Rascón said. "We are proud to support UTEP student-athletes and help advance the university as a trusted partner for more than 15 years.”

GECU has a long-standing history of supporting The University of Texas at El Paso and the Miners.

GECU signed the largest sponsorship deal in the history of UTEP Athletics in 2019, becoming the official credit union for the Miners.

In 2020, the GECU Terrace became a fixture at the iconic Sun Bowl Stadium.

In 2024, GECU became the first court/field sponsor in UTEP Athletics history, with its logo displayed on the Sun Bowl turf and Haskins Center floor.
