ALAMOGORDO, New Mexico -- KVIA-TV, Channel 7, the market-leading news station in far West Texas and Southern New Mexico, has announced that it has installed, and is now operating a new digital transmitter serving the Alamogordo area.

A KVIA transmitter that used to serve Alamogordo was turned off late last year at the direction of the Federal Communication Commission, which reallocated that frequency for cellular phone service.

To see KVIA’s signal free of charge over the air in Alamogrodo, viewers will need to conduct a channel scan by pushing the “scan” button on their television’s remote control, or finding the “scan” option within a menu button. Once the scan is complete, KVIA’s signal will be visible on Channel 7.
