Car barrels through rock wall, slams into central El Paso home

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- A car crashed into a central El Paso home early Monday morning near the intersection of Yandell and Reynolds, with a man sleeping inside the home barely escaping injury.

The car barreled through a rock wall and then smashed into the front of the house, before the driver managed to get out of the vehicle and flee the scene. Police were still searching for him as of Monday afternoon.

There were no serious injuries reported, in part due to quick thinking by a man who was sleeping in his bed when the car came crashing into his home.

ABC-7 was told that man awoke to the sound of the car hitting the rock wall and quickly scurried away from his bedroom seconds before the car hit the house and drop rocks and other debris on the bed where he had been sleeping.

Police have not yet said if they've determined what led up to the crash.
