Overturned truck carrying hazmat blocks U.S. 62/180 at Guadalupe Pass

HUDSPETH COUNTY, Texas (KVIA) -- The Texas Department of Public Safety was investigating after a semi-trailer carrying hazardous materisal crashed and overturned at milepost 51 on U.S. Highway 62/180 early Wednesday morning.

A DPS spokesman said both directions of the highway were closed at Guadalupe Mountain Pass. Traffic was being diverted westbound at FM 1111. Eastbound drivers were diverted to Carlsbad.

DPS said one person involved in the crash was taken to a hospital with minor injuries. Crews were working to clear the highway, but it was expected to be closed for most of the morning.
