Red Owl Boxing returns to El Paso

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) — Red Owl Boxing is returning to El Paso for its second event in the city, bringing nine bouts to the El Paso County Coliseum on Friday.

Greg Bloom, CEO of Red Owl Boxing, joined ABC-7 at noon to preview the event, which will feature the first women’s title fight in Red Owl Boxing history.

Naomi Cardenas and Melanie Timco are scheduled to fight for a WBA NABA title. Bloom said the card will also feature Deonte “Lay Em Down” Brown, who is ranked No. 11 by the WBA and could move into the top 10 with a win.

Ariana Carrasco of Las Cruces, who Bloom said has a 3-0 record, is also scheduled to compete.

Red Owl Boxing is based in Houston but has been holding events across the country. Bloom said the organization first came to El Paso in August and hopes to make the city a regular stop.

“The fans here are great,” Bloom said. “El Paso is a great base for us, and we’re hoping to make it a second home.”

Tickets are available through Ticketmaster.
