Dust Storm Advisory issued for El Paso and Dona Ana counties until 7:15 PM

The National Weather Service in El Paso has issued a * Dust Storm Advisory for… Southeastern Dona Ana County in south central New Mexico… Northwestern El Paso County in western Texas…* Until 715 PM MDT. (Editor’s note: For live radar and current conditions anytime, visit: kvia.com/weather )

* At 518 PM MDT, an area of blowing dust was over West El Paso.

HAZARD…Less than two miles visibility with strong winds up to 40 mph.

SOURCE…Detected by National Weather Service meteorologists.

IMPACT…Hazardous travel.

This will affect portions of Interstate 10 through El Paso. Low visibilities and gusty winds may make travel difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles.

Locations impacted include…West El Paso, East El Paso, Central El Paso, Northeast El Paso, Far East El Paso, Mission Valley, Chaparral, Clint, Santa Teresa, Anthony, Sunland Park, Canutillo, San Elizario, Anthony Gap, Vinton, Westway, Fort Bliss, Socorro, Chamberino and La Union.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Blowing dust brings reduced visibility, leading to dangerous driving conditions. If driving, avoid blowing dust if possible. If caught in dense blowing dust, pull off the road, turn off your lights and keep your foot off the brake.

Motorists should not drive into an area of blowing dust. PULL ASIDE STAY ALIVE!
