ABC-7 StormTrack Weather: Triple-digit heat continues Tuesday before rain chances increase Wednesday

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- We're continuing to track hot and mostly dry conditions across the Borderland for our Tuesday, with triple-digit temperatures expected across the Rio Grande Valley and Tularosa Basin.

Storm chances remain limited, with the highest hance for thunderstorms over the Gila and higher elevations and a few storms possible west of the Continental Divide.

Temperatures will run a few degrees above average today, with many lowland locations reaching 100 to 103 degrees. While most of the lowlands will remain dry, a few storms could produce gusty winds and brief heavy rainfall, especially across western New Mexico.

By Wednesday, the weather pattern begins to change as high pressure shifts east and allows more moisture to move north into New Mexico and far West Texas.

Rain and thunderstorm chances potentially increase across more of the Borderland through the end of the week, with slightly cooler temperatures expected as moisture increases. The added rainfall will also bring a potential risk for localized flash flooding.
