ABC-7 StormTrack Weather: Monsoon moisture returns Wednesday with higher chances for storms and flooding 

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- Wednesday tracks a pattern change across the Borderland, with isolated showers and thunderstorms possible this evening, mainly across southwest New Mexico. Tracking moisture to increase across the region, and that will lead to better rain and thunderstorm chances beginning Thursday.

Temperatures potentially begin to ease closer to normal as additional moisture moves in, providing a break from the recent triple-digit heat. Highs still remain relatively warm today, but we should see more cloud cover and increasing storm activity through the rest of the week.

By Saturday, the potential for widespread thunderstorms and heavy rainfall increases as a stronger upper-level disturbance moves through the region. With moisture levels between 1.25 and 1.5 inches, slow-moving storms could produce torrential rainfall and localized flash flooding. The greatest flooding threat, expected Saturday.
