ABC-7 StormTrack Weather: Sunday highs near or hitting 100 degrees with slight rain chances

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- Sunday is tracking to see a very similar weather pattern to Saturday across the Borderland.

Most of El Paso and Las Cruces tracking to stay dry while isolated to scattered thunderstorms remain possible mainly along and west of the Continental Divide.

Storm chances will favor western New Mexico and areas near Arizona through Monday. Some storms could produce heavy rainfall of up to 2 inches, particularly across Hidalgo County, along with gusty winds. The moisture plume will gradually shift east Sunday into Monday, allowing storm chances to increase slightly across more of the region.

Temperatures looking to remain above normal through the week, with lowland highs generally in the upper 90s to around 100 degrees. A slight cool-down is possible Tuesday before temperatures remain warm through the rest of the week.

Looking ahead, storm chances tracking to be more limited beginning Tuesday, with lower chances (around 10% to 20%) over the area mountains while most lowland locations remain dry.

Areas north and west of the Borderland could see better storm chances toward the end of the week.
