ABC-7 First Alert Continues: Active Weather Pattern Keeps Rain and Storms in the Forecast

El Paso and surrounding areas remain locked in a moist and active weather pattern, with multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms expected through the weekend. A persistent flow of moisture from the south, combined with disturbances moving through the region, is helping maintain an environment favorable for additional rainfall across Southern New Mexico and Far West Texas.

A weather disturbance currently over Sonora is expected to lift northward tonight into Thursday morning. Even after that system moves away, the region will remain connected to the moist southerly flow through Saturday.

That means rain and thunderstorm chances will remain in the forecast, with several additional disturbances capable of triggering new rounds of showers and storms. Exactly where and when those storms develop remains uncertain.

A more significant disturbance is expected to move through the region Saturday, eventually pushing the deeper moisture eastward. However, the details of Saturday's weather will depend heavily on what happens during the preceding days. If widespread storms develop earlier, they could alter the atmosphere and influence where additional thunderstorms form later.
